GRAND MANAN – A new proposed residential development has been announced for Grand Manan, NB.

The proposed residential development will feature a garden home community of 12 two- bedroom, two-bathroom, one-level homes named Grand Manan Garden Homes, perfect for those looking to ease into slower-paced living without giving up the comforts and independence of their own domain. The homes have been designed from the ground up with convenience, practicality, quality, style and energy-efficiency in mind. Everything around you will be maintained and taken care of, including grounds and snow removal, giving you peace and ease of mind. These 1,356 sq. ft. homes allow you to stretch your legs with ease while providing an intimate living experience.

“We are excited for the opportunity to work with the Village of Grand Manan to bring a first-class development to this beautiful part of the world,” Charlie Bourgeois, owner of the proposed project, said: “Based on recent surveys and discussions with the town, we believe there is strong demand for garden home living, and we can’t think of a better community to invest in for this development.”

The development group is led by owners Charlie and Colleen Bourgeois, with involvement from Hughes Surveys of Saint John, Moncton-based Steve Davies of Local Development Group, and Tim Lyons with NAI Commercial Real Estate Brokerage.

About Grand Manan Garden Homes

Our community is proudly named Manan which is a corruption of “mun-an-ook” or “man-an-ook”—meaning “island place” or “the island”, from the Maliseet-Passamaquoddy-Penobscot Indians who, according to oral history, used Grand Manan and its surrounding islands as a safe place for the elderly Passamaquoddy during winter months and as a sacred burial place.

Hosted in the world-famous Bay of Fundy where you can get up close and personal with puffins, migrating whales, marine wildlife and migrating seabirds on the finest tours in the bay. The working fishing villages, herring weirs and lighthouses offer a glimpse into our maritime roots.
